Default Formation and Battle Order

As you progress in the game and your army grows in size and strength take the time to arrange your troops in an order and formation that utilizes the strengths and minimizes the weaknesses of the individual units and henchmen.

Ont the unit menu drop down click on formation, Here you can preposition your units for battle. The center hex corelates to the hex 12,12 in your city and your army will be centered from that spot when placed on the battle field. The 'North' hexes on the formation screen represent the direction of the attackers. Your troops will automatically orient to the direction of the threat when placed on the battle field. In general you would place your heavy duty defense/shock troops on the outer perimeter, with missile unis behind and spell casters in the center. Various formations follow from this basic plan based on the nature and composition of your army.

By ordering your army you can group similar units and henchmen by type.. Grouping all your spell casters by class for example allows you to cast the same spell with ALL that class rapidly and helps in preventing missing one due to mislocation on the list. To order your units click on each individual unit on the unit summary page and change the order number in the left hand unit box to the location on your army list that you want that unit to appear.

Both of these actions take a little time to perform, but trust me, they are WELL WORTH IT, in both ease of combat and lessened confusion.

Thanks Eudrick
I had set up the formation facing south so every battle I am having to send the infantry to the front.

In the future, and I refrain from divulging where and when, be prepared for your best laid formations to go KERFLOOIE. <VERY VERY EVIL GRIN>
